Profile
Thyme James (b. 1996) is a Cornish interdisciplinary artist working across painting, printmaking, and performance. They are drawn to the tactile nature of these mediums, specifically the way in which they are able to capture every touch of human interaction with the work, and the human form, using the body as subject, tool, and, medium. Thyme’s current interest lies in the human condition within the contemporary digital age, exploring concerns of perception, gender, interaction & inclusivity, with the intention of evoking conversation and encouraging people to question and reconsider the society around us.
Originally from Cornwall, Thyme graduated from The Glasgow School of Art in 2019 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting and Printmaking, whilst there they attended the Academy of Fine Art Vienna on an Erasmus+ Scholarship in 2016-17. In 2019 they received the New Graduate Award from the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and was shortlisted for the Scottish Drawing Competition 2021.
