Salted Snail Studio is the work of Jasper Alexander, a queer linocut printmaker & various-media-dabbler intrigued by visual story telling.
Previously a hairstylist, I picked up relief printmaking in the fall of 2021 to make use of my idle hands. I find the fiddly, tedious movements of both trades to be similar. Now, instead of applying my hands to making others appear how they feel inside, I spend my time trying to bring my own internal world outward.
I’m inspired in equal measure by the natural world around me & the worlds created inside our heads. Folklore, symbology, spiritual beliefs, and therapeutic practice inform my work.
