Profile
I’m Elyssa Long, a graphic designer and illustrator from London, now living in Nottingham, and the creative behind Print is Dead. Created during my MA in Graphic Design and Illustration at Nottingham Trent University, Print is Dead is a celebration of my love of mythology and gothic imagery, with a side of esoteric symbolism.
Working with a range of techniques including traditional pen and ink drawing and digital, I enjoy using different print methods and carefully chosen paper stocks to create my work, particularly favouring risograph printing to produce beautiful reproductions of my illustrations. Due to the process, every print differs slightly from one another, creating a truly unique piece of art.
Through Print is Dead, my aim is to explore the beauty of the macabre, heavily inspired by vanitas and memento mori and drawing on the rich history, mythology and folklore based around the cyclical nature of life and death.
