Profile
Masha Tiplady is a fine art printmaker, member of Edinburgh Printmakers. She works primarily in relief printmaking, creating colourful linocuts, using both reduction and multiple-plate techniques.
This is how Masha describes her creative process: “An idea for a new linocut often comes from seeing beautiful colours and shapes around me, in everyday life. Recently, I’ve been finding myself increasingly drawn to nature and the way it changes from season to season. I also find inspiration in my favourite books, music and in history. The beginning of the 20th century and 50s-70s are, perhaps, my two favourite eras, I find their aesthetics and culture absolutely fascinating and often find myself going back to them in my prints.”
In 2018 Masha joined Edinburgh Printmakers studios, where she continues to learn and develop various printmaking techniques, such as intaglio and lithography.
She also regularly runs linocut workshops for beginners and people wishing to refresh their printmaking skills.
