Laura’s work is heavily inspired by nature. She attempts to recreate the wonders of the natural world, as a form of visual escapism from modern day commercial excesses.
There is a passion to capture the smaller things with her botanical works, as well as to depict the overwhelming, with vast skies and stormy seas. Making a conscious effort to draw our attention to our natural surroundings that are so often taken for granted.
Self taught, Laura has been working in reduction printing with both wood and lino for several years and enjoys the challenge of creating depth, texture, tone and atmosphere in such a 2-dimensional medium. Seeing an image slowly emerge, layer by layer, continues to fascinate her.
