Profile
Jordan Hill is a printmaker and painter from Laois, in the midlands of Ireland. She graduated with a BA (Hon) in fine art, specialising in Print Contemporary practice in 2020 and was awarded the Cork Printmakers Bursary Award.
Hill creates colorful and abstract compositions inspired by the Irish landscape, through processes of screen printing, mono printing and risograph printing. Theses works are a representation of experiences beyond the bounds of human expression.
Jordan has exhibited her work nationally and has work in conjunction with community youth groups.
At it’s root, her work is a reflections of her experiences both from childhood and more recently, within wild Irish landscapes. Documenting her journeys by note taking, sketching and photographing the land. She takes back to the studio all these pieces of information together. However, in the moments of making, she explores a connections between colour, the personality of different marks, through manipulating her surface and medium.
Hill employs a combination of printmaking processes with painted and drawn elements in her work to transmits an emotional interpretation of untamed landscapes into powerful abstract compositions which burst with colour and energy which cannot be communicated through words.
