Carolin Müller (born 1989, Germany) is an artist and scholar. She studied at the Technische University Dresden for Art Education for a BA and an MA and further holds an MA for Film Studies and a PhD in German Studies from the Ohio State University. She studied printmaking under the direction of Michael Loderstedt at Kent State University, Ohio, and Sergio Soave at the Ohio State University. Her training led to solo exhibitions in Columbus, Ohio, group projects with German artists Christian Manss, Jean Kirsten, and American artists such as Mary Jo Boyle in Columbus and in Dresden, Germany. Twice she was invited to the Rhelovice Artist Residency in the Czech Republic that were accompanied by group exhibitions. Her work has recently been shown at 35Blumen in Krefeld, Germany and at the Artist Wall in the Artist’s Studios in Jerusalem, where she currently has an artist in residence offering workshops on alternative modes of printmaking.

Her work questions how we remember and use the senses to respond to experiences of conflict in political upheaval and activism. Her prints and installations uncover the ambiguities of the mundane, asking how we see the world and the stories places tell us about themselves.

Carolin’s prints explore the possibilities of sustainable printmaking. She gives workshops on the methods she developed, hoping to make it possible for everyone to enjoy and explore the world of printmaking.
