Profile
The Cameron Twins are a collaborative artist duo of identical twins who explore a diverse range of artistic mediums, including screen printing, collage, sculpture, and installation. They make use of vivid colours and a child-like naïve aesthetic with chaotic ensembles of images working playfully, exploring ideas surrounding childhood imagination and dreams within their practice.
The Cameron Twins’ artistic style is characterised by a vibrant and bold colour palette, saturating the work with bright garish colours which often results in a surreal quality. With a childlike and playful essence, they delve into the world of memory, childhood imagination and nostalgia. Using both montages and prints, they intertwine elements from their own childhood memorabilia – old paintings, photographs, notes, and drawings – creating a visual gateway to their past and shared memories. As a result of this a profound sense of nostalgia often permeates their creative process, as they are collaborating with both their past selves, shared history and each other.
At the core of the Cameron Twins’ practice lies the significance of the printmaking process. Screen printing allows them to explore the notions of repetition, doubling, and mirroring, aspects closely tied to their personal experience as twins and is also used create a strange and uncanny quality to the work. The very physical nature of screen printing itself, the size of screens and the many stages of the printing process requires a truly physical collaboration between the twins at every stage of their work.
