Profile
Anna Wingfield explores a range of printmaking practices, pushing the boundaries between the medium’s traditional approach and her own exploratory method of inkwiping. She wipes, scrapes, and blurs swaths of ink across a copper plate, then transfers the image onto paper. The hand cut copper plates are repeatedly used and serve as a canvas, decaying due to the natural oxidation processes. The fluid wipes of her work are a balance between emotional impulse and rigorous control of technique. Drawn to multi-sensory moments, she strives to capture the encompassing sensation of when color and light are fused with texture and movement.
