As an artist and printmaker, Aalok Trivedi explores the relationships between rigidly organized structures and organic elements.
Aalok comes from an art & design background at the University of Maryland and a career in mobile design, so he is heavily influenced by grid structures, hierarchy, digital mediums, and minimalism. However, his artwork is seen as an escape from rigidity, and a way to incorporate more organic, natural elements, not only to create balance but as a commentary on mental health and the unpredictability of life.
The dichotomy of organic vs. structure is prevalent in Aalok’s artwork, as his two biggest influences are Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky. He fell in love with screenprinting as a student and loves using other techniques to achieve the organic, unpredictable nature of printmaking.
Aalok’s goal is to allow the viewer to experience how the interplay of organic and structured elements can tell a story.
