Profile
Carissa Cullum Ferdinand (she/her) is a mixed media artist who identifies as Japanese American and queer. She is self-taught yet community-made; she has leaned into the guidance of mentors and support of peers since beginning her fine arts career in 2019. While her husband’s career leads them to relocate often, 3Clouds Studio is currently located in Homestead, Florida.
In her art, Carissa uses bright colors and bold patterns, mixed with nostalgic 90s elements whenever possible. She often uses creativity to explore her inner self and give voice to the parts of her that have yet to be heard. Overall, her artwork offers a sense of authenticity, sentimentality, and organized chaos, as she strives to become the self-proclaimed “punk rock Lisa Frank.”
Carissa is an active member of the Homestead Center for the Art’s Bea Peskoe Art Committee, and guest/co-host for Thomas Beutel’s podcast, You & I Make a Thing.
