Profile
I am Hugo Guillen, a Mexican linocut artist based in Bern. My prints capture the mysterious allure of wildlife, the playful antics of cats, and the eerie charm of the macabre, offering a unique view of the world, one carved line at a time. By day, I work as a computer scientist; by night, I channel my passion into art. In a digital world where my professional work is intangible, creating art provides a tangible joy—feeling the tool slice through linoleum and watching characters from various realms come alive.
It’s this blend of traditional craftsmanship with a modern twist that fuels my desire to continuously sharpen my skills and artistic vision. Drawing on my multicultural roots and a love for all things pop culture, I aim to make each piece resonate with anyone who’s ever smiled at a meme, felt a shiver from a horror scene, or adored an animal. My prints are designed to spark conversations, bring joy, and even awaken a bit of nostalgia.
