Profile
I am a cartoonist based in Manchester that specialises in editorial illustration and comics. In 2020, I founded The Lemming, a left-wing DIY publication that prints articles on topics neglected by mainstream media, populated by ghoulish illustrations and cartoons, where I work as the Creative Director.
My art finds meaning in dark humour and magical realism, drawing inspiration from the likes of Roland Topor and Franz Kafka. For me, it’s about finding an equilibrium between sorrow and humour in a way that someone like Topor, or Kafka could so expertly attain. This balancing act creates a good amount of sympathy for characters to be effective – to move people, and I suppose as artists, we are all just trying to find our own way of achieving this aim.
I hope to create landscapes that deserve to be dug into, that spurs investigation, that splays open a path for disturbed imaginations to flurry wildly, it’s all in the groundwork in this regard. I like to give the viewer a little work.
