Profile
I am a recent Visual Arts graduate from Vancouver Island University. After graduation I began my practice with a focus in linocut printmaking. My work explores the interconnectedness of the natural world as it collides with human perception and values.
I employ the reductive or multi block processes of linoleum printing to build diverse layers of colour and textures within my works. I am attracted to the meditative qualities of hand carving in contrast with the mechanical act of printing. Together these methodologies unearth subtleties beyond what the eye can see and focus on interrelationships between components of the planet and our place within it.
Printmaking offers the capacity of dual perception and reversal through the mirror image, thus evoking curiosity and different ways of seeing. My imagery is layered with information from past thoughts which act as metaphors for the way memory traces impose themselves on perception.
