Zoenso was set up to incorporate all of my work as a printmaker, artist and educator. I am Zoe and I am based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire in the UK.
I make work often intuitively and through deep contemplation when walking in rural and urban environments I gather and collect texture, marks, patterns and shapes. I draw from the mundane and everyday and aim to capture a moment in time, stillness and the unnoticed surfaces and marks that are often over looked – the imperfections in small things are often the spark for something new.
Print techniques I use are all analogue I embrace mistakes and mishaps of printmaking and mainly use woodcut and mono print but many other forms are also incorporated. The way create my final prints maybe would be frowned at by traditional printmakers as my prints are only the beginning of the process. I use a technique called DeCollage, the prints are cut up and intercut back together to form new work mixing and collating colours and textures into one again.
When I am not creating I continue to share my knowledge and teach print techniques in my home studio, community and at festivals.
