Profile
Voltaire Lab is the editorial project of Urtzi Urkixo, a basque artist living in Berlin since 2015.
Beside to creating his own artwork, he is a master printmaker who uses silk screen printing as tool
to produce artwork, designs and illustrations on paper and textile for other designers and creators.
In 2018, he set up his Voltaire Lab project in Berlin to explore the final stage of the creative
process: production and printing. Since then he has been able to collaborate with various
educational institutions, cultural projects and creators based in Berlin and Europe such as Bauhaus
Archive Berlin, ESDIP school and Future Berlin Tattoo Collective.
Photography, architecture and urbanism are for him interesting themes and he uses them as
inspiration for his hand printed designs. He also tries to recover those meeting points in the urban
environment and elaborate designs in commemoration of them.
