My name is Safa and I am a printmaker. I discovered printmaking as I searched for a new interest whilst working full time as a primary school teacher. With practice and an exploration of my cultural and family heritage, connections started to emerge in my work. Each print had a story and meaning within it, something that connected me to its formation. Travels to ancestral villages and my parents migration inspired me to bring life and a rich culture to my creativity. Printmaking allows me to explore and create with freedom. All Lino prints are printed in my home studio in Bristol, UK. Hand printing onto carefully selected natural papers adds to the authenticity and meaning they hold. Each piece is unique and mirrors the moments we have in life. I hope my prints initiate a moment of stillness; to make you stop, breathe and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us. Working as a Printmaker in my small business, alongside my role as a part time Reading specialist teacher, fills me with gratitude, joy and confidence. As a woman, I hope to inspire others to explore their creativity and fulfil their dreams.
