Rosie Leech is an illustrator and printmaker currently based in the UK. She did her Foundation year at Falmouth School of Art, and has recently graduated from the Illustration BA(Hons) at Edinburgh College of Art.

Rosie works with screenprint, risograph and etching amongst other traditional printmaking techniques. All her work is hand-drawn, and she tends towards extremely precise creations. Her illustrations are rooted in narrative and often experiment with how small and detailed it is possible to go with a printing technique, pushing the medium as far as she can in this direction before deciding where to go next with it. She explores finding the limits of how thin you can print lines and type in screenprint, as well as the size and intricacy possible when working with etching plates, most recently in her ‘One Inch Etchings’ project. Although risograph printing is often associated with very bold colours and strong lines, her work frequently works with intricate imagery in this medium.

Rosie was featured in Issue 13 of ‘Pressing Matters’ magazine and has illustrated for ‘Counterpoint’ risograph magazine and ‘Salt and Wonder’ food journal, amongst other publications. Her risograph printed silent comic interpreting Italo Calvino’s short story ‘The Distance of the Moon’ was shortlisted in the 2020 World Illustration Awards.
