I did my first woodcut in high school. I became aware of the beauty of reduction block prints many years ago at a gallery in Carmel, CA. I came home an experimented with the process and really enjoyed it, but didn’t didn’t have the time to devote to it. I sold my business about three years ago, which enabled me to focus on creating reduction block prints (mostly linocuts) full time. I’m busier now creating art than I was when I was running a company.
I love the process of creating reduction prints. I like that it combines both sculpture and painting and that it requires both a left-brain strategic sense, as well as right-brain creativity. True, the process is filled with risk, but the reward and exhilaration of a successful edition is more than worth it.
Even though I am a “late bloomer” as an artist, i have already been accepted into many prestigious juried shows and won first place awards for my work – even competing with highly regarded traditional oil painters and watercolor artists.
