Rachel E Millar is a signwriter, gilder and lettering artist based in Glasgow, Scotland. She specialises in designing and painting lettering by hand – large or small, interior or exterior, on shop fronts, on walls and almost any other surface. She works somewhere between design, art and craft, fusing traditional signwriting techniques with contemporary typographic design.
Rachel’s printed artworks are mainly risograph based and produced by local Glasgow printers such as Risotto Studio. Her prints are adapted from painted pieces and she enjoys experimenting with the often unpredictable nature of riso printing. Some of her prints are collaborations with creatives such as illustration and textile design to overlap these disciplines with bold typographic statements.
