Laura Obón is a London based abstract artist who creates colourful geometric collages. She holds a BA in Fine Art from Sheffield University, a MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, and a PGCE in Art and Design from Goldsmith, University of the Arts.
Obón creates analogue and digital collages and her abstract and geometric compositions are governed by the power of colour and intuition. This allows her to diverge from the realms of reason, permitting only her inner self to guide her during the creative process.
Strongly influenced by Alain de Botton and J. Armstrong’s book Art as Therapy and W. Kandinsky’s Concerning the Spiritual in Art, Obón views art as an experience for the soul and seeks to explore the therapeutic effects of making and sharing art as an antidote to mundane life.
Obón regularly exhibits in both solo and group exhibitions held internationally, including in the UK, South Korea, Spain and the US. She has also been appointed for several public commissions, most notably by the Rotherham General Hospital, Rotherham, UK and the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, UK.
