Nic is a linocut printmaker in Chicago, based out of the guest bedroom in his apartment. He is inspired by pop art, op art, natural landscapes, architecture and iconography.
Nic’s process includes both analogue and digital techniques. His analogue works will be a direct transfer from his sketchbook. In his digital hybrids he uses architectural drafting software, coding, and digital collage to create an image, but maintains that all of his prints be carved by hand.
Each print is hand carved on a linoleum block, rolled with oil based ink, and pressed onto mulberry paper with a wooden spoon. Hand pulling the print results in slight variations from print to print, making each print truly unique.
