Originally from Florida, and inspired by the outdoors, Elyse’s hand carved landscapes and textiles originate from time spent living and working in a self-renovated 1986 Avion travel trailer. Each landscape spans from the United States’ deep south, to the southwest, throughout the western landscapes of California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and up through Canada.

Most of my prints begin as sketches completed while fully immersed in nature. These sketches are taken back to her studio, where they are carved into a linoleum block and printed by hand using wooden and glass barrens. Through sharing my prints and creative process, I hope to spread an appreciation for the outdoors, as well as the unique ways that printmaking can be done outside of a traditional print studio.
