After leaving University I worked as a Graphic Designer for IKEA before moving on to numerous Design Week top 100 design agencies before setting up an agency with 2 friends that really altered what clients can expect from their design agency. The agency AVIDD Design is going from strength to strength but I still enjoy creating my art outside of that, where I am not constricted by briefs or budgets just my own imagination.
My screen printing work has appeared in numerous exhibitions hosted by Printclub London alongside some of my heroes. My David Bowie print Ch-ch-changes sold out after being made available online with a second version created after David's death in 2016, selling out in minutes while raising a large amount of money for Cancer Reasearch.
I have also had work selected on a number of years in the Secret 7's exhibition creating artwork for singles for bands such as Chvches and Miles Davis. The sleeves formed part of an exhibition and were then sold to raise money for various charities.
In 2010 my work appeared on a 50 pence piece to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics with a copy of it now housed in the British Museum’s permanent collection. I am yet to find one of my coins in my change but the fact that one is house at The British Museum blows my mind.
My work can also be found on everything from tote bags to facemarks creating designs for the lifestyle brand ...andrepeat. Although a fledgeling business we have high hopes for what we can achieve with our ranges that celebrate timeless British cultural icons and design. The quirky range of gifts and homewares are designed and made in the UK in an environmentally conscious way, something very close to my heart.
My current passion is lino printing that after learning in school I have re-discovered. I have developed a style using single colour lino prints (usually black) sometimes adding pops of bold flat colour using tissue paper either on top of the print or below the print. Both give a different effect, but with both styles you can see my background as a Graphic Designer coming through with bold graphic shapes.
I am inspired on a daily basis wherever I go by building, plants, landscapes and places to create my take on them through my art. My work continues to evolve and I constantly challenge myself trying my hand at pottery and garden design. I don't limit myself and I certainly don't pigeon hole myself. I am a designer and that is what gives my life meaning.
