Alexandra Owen is the Printmaker and Artist behind MegaLilyDesign. Working from her studio in Hove Alex creates linocut prints inspired by Nature and Nurture.
Mostly self taught Alex came to printmaking a few years ago after attending some Friday morning art classes at Phoenix Arts in Brighton, here she discovered lino printing and fell in love with this process. Over the past five years Alex has developed her practice and now works full time as a printmaker.
Alex’s Nature prints feature plants and animals that the she observes whilst out and about in Sussex and further afield, they often connect to a personal story or interest which forms the underlying structure of each print. The Nurture prints have evolved from working with the theme of the Inner Child and the very human need for connection and love.
In 2020 one of her limited edition prints “Delicate World” was shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Alex’s work has also been exhibited around Sussex and she is a member of the Association of Sussex Artists and Steyning Arts.
Alex’s original prints range from limited editions and complex reduction prints to smaller open editions, this allows everyone to own a piece of original art no matter what their budget which is very important to the ethos of MegaLilyDesign.
