Curious Journeys (aka Steve Irvine) is a contemporary reduction linocut printmaker living and working in North London.
With a background in professional graphic design, he challenges the traditional boundaries of lino to create realistic images
of everyday objects. His influences are born from his daily ‘curious journeys’ exploring the wonders of the ordinary, finding meaning and narrative in the discarded ephemera of everyday life.
Through meticulous attention to detail and painstaking planning, his trained graphic eye elevates the linocut print, allowing form and function to interplay with multiple layers of colour and tone. His prints have a playful ‘pop art’ aesthetic due to their single-minded iconic graphic appearance, allowing the viewer to find their own association with the object without distraction.
